Numerical Analysis of a TEG and mPCM Enhancement System for BIPVs Using CFD

Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs) are the most promising systems for net-zero energy buildings. However, there few practical cases because of shortcomings, such as lack solar tracking and rapid rise in PV surface temperature. Therefore, methods increasing efficiency BIPVs have been proposed studied. These include using phase change material (PCM) or heat fins, wavelength selection, decreasing temperature, a thermoelectric generator (TEG) convection cooling to utilize waste from PV. Many preceding studies conducted on TEG dissipation much possible. this study, TEG–PCM hybrid system mPCM was improve constructability. Herein, appropriate temperature PCM, fin spacing PCM container, arrangement were analyzed through computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based simulations. The melting interval, 25 °C, 20 mm, 140 respectively. In order achieve optimal efficiency, it is necessary consider an amount transfer, has confirmed that if too many elements, opposite effect occurs.
